Local Councillors help clean up village!

Councillors Neil Bannister and Rosita Page – plus a local scout group –were among those who took part in the Big Village Clean Up in Ullesthorpe over the weekend of the 8th and 9th July 2017.

The aim was to clear up litter and waste, as well as to collect items from residents which could be donated to the blood cancer charity Bloodwise, including jigsaw puzzles, shoes, curtains and chairs.

Ullesthorpe Parish Council provided a skip which was filled and Harborough District Council provided litter picking equipment and collected a further 50 bags of rubbish which included cans, bottles, paper, a carpet and even an old washing line!

Cllr Neil Bannister, Harborough District Council’s portfolio holder for environment and regulation said, “This was a great effort by the Ullesthorpe community led by local resident Maggie Pankhurst. Those who got involved helped make the event a big success.”
