MP Joins Bus Lane Protest

South  Leicestershire MP, Andrew Robathan, will pick up his placard and join the protest against the proposed bus lane on the A426.

The bus lane has been proposed as a way of reducing congestion, but residents in Glen Parva have disputed this and, indeed, argue that it will make the road more dangerous.

Mr Robathan commented ‘We should do everything to support public transport, but this scheme fails to do that. It doesn’t tackle the real cause of the congestion so I fail to see how it would benefit those travelling by bus and it certainly wouldn’t help those living in the area. The disadvantages, in my opinion, far outweigh the advantages. I have already raised this with the Leader of the Council and I hope that they will look again at this proposal.’

The demonstration is due to take place on Saturday 8th December, meeting at Carvers corner at 11am.
