New Year Message from the Chairman
2020 has been a tough year with the Covid 19 pandemic impacting on our health, safety and
economy. We gladly leave 2020 behind us and look forward to a more normal life in 2021. There will
still be a few tough months living under restrictions but I am hopeful that by the time we get to
Easter we can start to see an easing of those restrictions.
Against significant obstacles the Conservative Government led by Boris Johnson secured the Trade
deal with the EU as the year ended and great relief was felt particularly in the business sector. It is
pleasing to have an optimistic Prime Minister and he deserves much credit for securing this
Agreement.
2021 will see some key elections – the County Council and Police and Crime Commissioner as well as
a by election due in the Stanton and Flamville Ward for Blaby District Council. We have a superb
campaign team that will put the effort in to secure as many Conservative candidates being elected as
possible.
I really do hope that once restrictions are lifted later this year the Association will resume its events
programme ensuring a number of fun and sociable events can take place.
Thank you for your support in 2020 – here’s to a brighter, safer, successful and healthy 2021!
