Now that Parliament has been dissolved, Andrew Robathan is no longer our MP.
I have known him personally for the twenty three years he has served the Blaby and South Leicestershire Constituencies and have enjoyed his company on many occasions, from canvassing to formal meetings to Association events.
Andrew was not only a good constituency MP but also he served on the front bench for twelve years, as shadow minister and shadow Deputy Chief Whip.
Then in Government as Minister of State for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans; Minister of State for the Armed Forces and then Minister of State for Northern Ireland.
Being and MP is extremely demanding. Andrew will now return to a quieter life and personally I wish him every success in his future life in retirement from Westminster and I look forward to seeing him in and around the constituency as he will continue to live in South Leicestershire and be a member of the Association.
