Congratulations to Rosita Page, who was recently sworn in as county council chairman
Rosita has pledged to raise funds for two county charities, after being sworn in.
Lutterworth councillor Rosita, the county’s 39th chairman, will raise funds for the Matt Hampson Foundation, which provides help, advice and financial support for young people injured seriously through sport, plus Lutterworth’s community computer centre, at the town’s one-stop shop.
German-born Rosita has lived in the county for 30 years and has been a county councillor since 2005 and a district councillor since 1999.
She paid tribute to outgoing chairman Peter Lewis and welcomed councillors who joined the authority in the recent county elections.
Rosita, who is expected to have at least 300 civic engagements in her diary for the next year, said: This is a tremendous honour for me and a challenge. I am looking forward to this with great enthusiasm.”
The council's new vice-chairman is Bill Boulter, councillor for Wigston South.
