Alan Tanner is married to Gill, they have three children and five grandchildren. Alan and Gill have lived in Cosby for over 35 years. He has represented Cosby and South Whetstone as your District Councillor for the past sixteen years, he is also a Parish Councillor for both Cosby and Whetstone Parish Councils.
Alan has been a Commissioner on Scrutiny and Chairman on Development Control and during the years 2013 and 2014 Chairman of the Council and it has been all down to you, the residents of Cosby and South Whetstone who supported Alan four years ago.
Alan's passion still is, as a member of the new enhanced Planning Development Committee in delivering sustainable, balanced housing in the most appropriate places. Never forgetting the need to keep productive farming land.
Alan has represented Cosby and South Whetstone on the Citizens' Advice Bureau and was the first elected Youth Champion for the District. He serves on the Licensing Committee, Unfair Dismissal Committee and Regulatory Committee as well as Scrutiny and Development Control.
As a Father and Grandfather one of his happiest times is serving as a Governor at the local school and during the transfer to Academy status. It has been a real privilege working with a great team.
Alan and his wife are keen gardeners and it has been very pleasing to see the success of the allotments in South Whetstone and the initiatives at Whetstone Gorse Farm. He also supports Blaby Farmers' Market.
Alan is a great supporter of the National Health Service and is a member of a local doctors' practice Patient Participation Group.
