Cllr Barry Garner

Blaby District Councillor for Narborough & Littlethorpe Ward

Barry Garner was born in Leicester in 1944 and has three grown up sons. Having lived in Littlethorpe since 1970 he has always been involved in the life
of the surrounding community.
He was elected as a member of the Narborough and Littlethorpe Ward in Blaby District in May 1991. Having been Chairman of Blaby District Council for 1999-2000.
Educated at South Wigston High School and Guthlaxton Grammar School he went on to do a five year apprenticeship in the decorating and building industry gaining a City & Guilds qualification. During his working life he has been self employed as well as working for Empire Stone and Blaby District Council. He recently retired from Narborough Parish Council as a maintenance officer.
Committed to serving his local community he has been a member of the Littlethorpe Community Association for almost 30 years with a term as Chairman. He also enjoys football and was a former secretary of Narborough and Littlethorpe Football Club for 9 years. In April 2009 he became the Vice President of the Leicestershire Scouts Association. He is also a Trustee of the local charity CAFFY.
