Cllr Iain M. Hewson

Blaby District Council Stanton & Flamville Ward

I have lived in Sapcote for 38 years. Married to Sandra for 41 years and have a grown up son.
I wanted to get more involved in my local community and I have now served on Sapcote Parish Council for six years, the last four as Vice Chairman.

I have served on Blaby District Council since 2011 and have worked as a team with Sheila Scott and Deanne Woods in looking after your interests.

I have been proud to represent you as your District Councillor for eight years.

For the last three years Ihave been Portfolio holder, for Health / Wellbeing, Leisure and Sport and Regulated Services. Helping to ensure that we have available assistance and support for residents of all age groups across the District who wish to have a healthier lifestyle.

I also help to ensure that the regulatory services are monitored in-line with government guidelines, and that the environmental teams are monitoring air quality across the District making recommendations to DEFRA if and when required.

I assist, support and inform three Parish Councils and two Parish Meetings within the Ward. Should residents have queries and they bring them to my attention I try to assist or signpost them to the right person(s) they need to contact and I keep in contact with them to make sure their query is resolved.

My duties have been varied from helping residents with housing issues, bin collections, dangerous pavements and the bus service.

I am also a member of Sapcote Parish Councillor and for the last eight years served as Vice Chairman.
