Cllr Iain M. Hewson

Blaby District Council Stanton & Flamville Ward

I have lived in Sapcote for 35 years. Married to Sandra for 38 years and have a grown up son.
I wanted to get more involved in my local community and I have now served on Sapcote Parish Council for six years, the last four as Vice Chairman.

I have served on Blaby District Council since 2011 and have worked as a team with Sheila Scott and Ernie White in looking after your interests.

At the Council I have been Chairman of the Member Development Steering Group which works hard to develop the skills of members and I am very keen to reduce the amount of paper by persuading members to use modern technology such as tablet devices during Council and Committee meetings.

I am a member of the Scrutiny Commission, which is where the decisions of the Council and the Cabinet are scrutinised and sometimes challenged, and I have taken a keen interest in services for vulnerable people of all age groups, ensuring help and assistance is provided wherever possible.

I have been centrally involved in improving the Councils planning department to the extent that it is now one of the most improved departments in the Country.

I am a member of the development Control Committee which has been very busy this year!

My aim is to represent the area to the best of my ability, by attending Parish Council / Parish Meetings, and above all keeping a breast of residents concerns and being of assistance whenever
